“The Inflatable Fairfax Flamingo” (digital photo, 2021) From the artists: “With good news coming every day now, when our staff brainstormed this issue’s special Best of Summer cover, we knew we wanted to bring in a little fun after an obviously tough year. And what’s more fun than an inflatable flamingo at Fairfax Pool on Eau Claire’s southside? So the team took off for a swim, camera in hand. Once we got the shot, we layered in some zig-zaggy illustrative elements, which can also be found throughout this entire issue, to add vibrancy and color to the whole publication. Poof – instant summer fun. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did creating it!”
