“Hopeful Summer Blooms” by Susan Walsh

Susan Walsh lives and works in Eau Claire. She enjoys practicing art in visual journals and occasionally ventures into paint and mixed media on canvas.

“Hopeful Summer Blooms” (acrylic paint and marker, 12”x12,” 2021) •  From the artist: “My favorite way to spend a day is with my art supplies. I keep visual journals where I can experiment with different media, colors and compositions. I enjoy recording poems, inspiring quotes and mantras with my art. Time with my art journal feeds my soul and clears my head. Occasionally I expand on an idea that began as a journal page; bringing it onto canvas. Working slightly larger, on canvas rather than paper and with paint rather than pens and markers takes me out of my comfort zone.  I was pleased with the shapes and colors that began in my journal and evolved into this piece. I love the whimsical shapes and bright colors invoking warm sunny gardens filled with flowers in bloom.”
