Chippewa Valley Symphony Orchestra Seeks Young Artists
Young Artist Competition offers one talented youth a $1,300 prize
Area musicians aged 14 to 18 are invited to enter the 33rd annual Young Artist Competition, sponsored by the Chippewa Valley Symphony Orchestra. The winner will receive a $1,300 prize and perform with the symphony at a concert scheduled for Oct. 16, 2021, at the Pablo Center at the Confluence in Eau Claire. The remaining four finalists will receive $300, $200, or $100 cash prizes. While the competition usually has in-person performances for the top five finishers, this year everything is 100% virtual due to COVID-19. CVSO Music Director Nobuyoshi Yasuda will review the submitted videos and select the finalists. A panel of three judges will review the finalists’ video entries, and rank the winner and runners up. Interested musicians can apply at cvsymphony.org/youngartistentry. The deadline for submission is May 1. For more info, visit www.cvsymphony.org.
