The internet was abuzz a couple of weeks ago when Volume One shared some before-and-after photos of the locally renowned “Turf House,” the 1970s-era split-level Eastside Hill home known for its artificial turf yard and boldly decorated interior.

Via more than 1,000 comments on Facebook, our website, and elsewhere, some locals lauded the remodel, while others mourned the loss of the 4,400-square-foot home’s original eccentric décor. (You can check out our original photo sets and some of the commentary here.)

Now – as of Thursday, Feb. 18 – the house at 506 Margaret St. is officially on the market with an asking price of $525,000. For just over half a million dollars, you’ll get a house that’s been upgraded inside and out but that still features an indoor pool, a spiral staircase, and much more. Here’s the description from the real estate listing at Zillow.com:

The East Hill's “Astro Turf” house has received a face lift! This 3 bd 3-1/2 ba home has the same beautiful architecture, all new updates! New siding, roof, most of the windows, custom kitchen cabinets, flooring throughout! All of the bathrooms have new tile and fixtures. Take a dip in the completely redone indoor pool! Hang out on your fenced in patio! With a main level office you never have to leave home! Don't like yard work? No worries, the astro turf is still there! Book a showing today!

The house was last purchased for $190,000 in November 2019, so the $525,000 asking price is a substantial upgrade. It’s also substantially more than any other home currently for sale in the neighborhood, where current asking prices — for very different homes, of course —range from $120,000 to $200,000. If it sells for $525,000, it will (most likely) be the most costly home in the neighborhood.

The home is being listed by Deziree Sorenson of Coldwell Banker Brenizer. You can learn more via the real estate listing.
