Downtown EC Businesses Benefit from Second Round of COVID Relief Grants
Downtown Eau Claire Inc. aids 23 applicants
Downtown Eau Claire Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to building a vibrant downtown, has announced a second round of COVID-19 relief grants to assist businesses and organizations impacted by the pandemic-driven economic downturn.
On Friday, the DECI Board of Directors announced that 23 applicants (including, we’re happy to say, Volume One itself) would receive grants worth $1,500 each, totaling $34,500 in assistance. When combined with grants made to members back in June, DECI has distributed $81,000 in direct relief to businesses and organizations in the downtown.
“We recognize that the ongoing pandemic continues to put financial strain on our members,” said Aaron White, DECI executive director. “We also know that our downtown businesses will continue to face challenges in the coming months. The DECI Board felt it was important to release another round of grant funding for members to hopefully help ease some of that burden.”
White continued: “It is because of the support provided by our community – our members, our Business Improvement Districts, sponsors, donors, and our partnership with the City of Eau Claire – that we are able to offer these grants.”
According to a DECI media release, “In order to receive a grant, applicants had to be current members of DECI and needed to provide information on how they had been negatively impacted by the pandemic.” Payments are expected to be made the week of Jan. 11.
