The L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library in Eau Claire is seeking submissions for the 2021 incarnation of ArtsWest, its annual juried art show.
Because of the pandemic and anticipated renovations to the library, ArtsWest 42 will be a virtual show, opening Sunday, March 21, and running through May 25.
Submissions, which can be in any artistic medium, are welcome from all artists aged 18 or older – whether they are working artists or students – who live in Wisconsin. The deadline for entries is Friday, Jan. 29, and all artworks must have been completed since Jan. 1, 2019.
Here are further details for interested artists:
As part of the submission process, artists will create a Submittable.com account. Two pieces may be submitted per artist. For further details, consult the online entry form at www.ecpubliclibrary.info/art. The deadline for entries is January 29, 2021. No entry fees are required.
Artists’ prizes will be awarded for Best of Show, $300; First Prize, $200; Second Prize, $150; and Third Prize, $100. Funding for artists’ prizes has been provided by the Friends of the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library.
All artwork will be subject to juror review and selection. Notification of acceptance or non-acceptance to Wisconsin ArtsWest 42 will be emailed to artists no later than February 26 via the Submittable software.
ArtsWest is one of the few juried art shows in the Chippewa Valley. The juror for ArtsWest 42 will be Eóin Breadon, department chair of art and assistant professor of glass at UW-River Falls.
ArtsWest made its premiere in the fall of 1979 and since April 1981 has been an annual spring show. Learn more by calling (715) 839-5004, or emailing the library at librarian@eauclaire.lib.wi.us.
