“Zebra” (2017), colored pencil and graphite pencil,
24” x 18,” by Anthony Scholfield

Anthony Scholfield is a vinyl loving, coral reef keeping, local artist.  He is a creator and maker by design who uniquely combines nature with geometrics.

When it comes to creating art I am often inspired by nature first. I see something or get an idea of a subject that I think would be fun. Once my subject matter is down in pencil, I begin to add all the geometrics to fill the space in a way that I believe is pleasing to the eye and compliments the subject matter. The goal for me is to create a complete piece that captures the realism of the subject along with cohesive composition that looks cool. I can’t say I have any hidden or obvious meaning in most of the work that I do, it’s just supposed to look cool.” –The Artist

Volume One finds its cover art in a number of ways, from local art shows to random emails to knowing someone who knows someone who knows a great artist. The art always originates from a current or former Chippewa Valley resident. If you'd like to submit cover art, send us a message.
