Nearly three months after closing because of the coronavirus pandemic, Micon Downtown Budget Cinema is shifting gears to reopen on Friday, June 12. And the price will be right: just $3 for all seats.

Because Hollywood has put new releases on hold until July, for the time being the two-screen theater will feature movie classics including Forrest Gump, Superman (1978), Midway (1976), and Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. Movie tickets are available for purchase online. Moviegoers should plan to practice physical distancing in the theater and follow a few new policies to prevent the spread of COVID-19. More details will follow!

Like the rest of the movie theaters in the state, the Budget Cinema was closed on March 17 as a result of a public health order from Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers. In a June 2 Facebook post, Micon Cinemas – which also operates multi-screen theaters in Chippewa Falls and on Mall Drive in Eau Claire – said it was working on reopening its locations in the comings weeks.
