As Job Market Fluctuates, City of Eau Claire Wants to Connect Job-Seekers with Employers

While temporary layoffs and closures as a result of the coronavirus pandemic are widespread, some Chippewa Valley businesses are actually staffing up to meet a spike in demand. As a result, the Economic Development Division of the City of Eau Claire is trying to rapidly connect job seekers and potential employers in this rapidly changing environment.

Aaron White, the city’s economic development manager, said Thursday that his office has put together two online tools after “receiving inquiries from employers needing to add staff rapidly primarily due to increased needs related to coronavirus.” Here they are:

If you’re a job-seeker, follow this link to see open positions: bit.ly/ec-employment

And if you’re an employer with positions that need filling, go here: bit.ly/post-ec-jobs

Ideally, the links will provide a simple but fast way for job-seekers and employers to connect.

For a full dashboard of federal, state, and local COVID-19 related resources for businesses and individuals, the Economic Development Division has created a financial assistance website. (Follow the link and select “Coronavirus Aid & Information.”)

And if you’re a recently unemployed person in Wisconsin, you can file a claim for unemployment benefits online with the state Department of Workforce Development.
