Priory Writers’ Retreat Offers Focus on Craft
V1 Staff |
The Chippewa Valley Writers Guild is inviting writers to its second-annual Priory Writers’ Retreat, which will be June 25-28 at The Priory, a former monastery just outside Eau Claire. The retreat gives writers the opportunity to learn from each other and from seasoned instructors while enjoying The Priory’s 120 wooded acres -- not to mention onsite lodging, meals and drinks, personalized critiques, craft talks, and a celebratory reading at the Pablo Center at the Confluence.
Instructors and course offerings for 2020 include Tessa Fontaine (“Beauty in Brevity: Finding Power in Flash Creative Nonfiction and Memoir”), Nickolas Butler (“Great Tales of Action and Adventure (and Horror, too…)”), Kimberly Blaeser (“Poetry of Spirit and Witness”), and Peter Geye (“The First Chapter, the Last Chance: How The Opening Pages of Your Novel Can Make It Or Break It”).
The cost for the retreat is $480 (or $380 for those who don’t require lodging). Applications are already being accepted, and should include a 500-word writing statement and a writing sample.
