“Winter at Bear’s Grass” by Karen Clark
2019 digital photograph + alcohol ink,  11” x 14”

Karen Clark graduated from UW-Eau Claire and taught art for 30 years. She is now a full-time artist working primarily with ink and mixed media.

Winter at Bear’s Grass is a combination of a digital photograph and an original alcohol ink painting. The two were combined digitally into a double exposure, mixing and highlighting elements from each piece. This is a new direction that combines two areas of my work. I have been taking landscape photos for more than 40 years. My work in fused glass has led me to try painting the glass with alcohol ink to create very unique pieces. I created some paintings on Yupo as well, and decided to scan them for print. The layering of them with photos was an idea that created an unexpected but beautiful result.” – The Artist
