Roble Is Back on the Menu but Delivery Only

Roble, which closed not long after being chosen Best New Restaurant in the 2018 Best of the Chippewa Valley Reader Poll, is back. Operating out of the kitchen at Northern Tap House, 5020 Keystone Crossing, Eau Claire, Roble has reopened as a delivery-only restaurant in partnership with Bite Squad. “Essentially it’s like a virtual restaurant,” said Gretta Hunt, general manager for Northern Tap House and Roble. “It didn’t work out as a big brick-and-mortar in this location, but we wanted to give people what they asked for.”

Delivery-only restaurants with online menus are becoming a trend in urban areas, as they have lower overhead than full-fledged restaurants. All that is needed is access to a commercial kitchen and a partnership with a delivery service. At-home (or at-work) diners can order many of the favorites from Roble’s original menu to locations in Eau Claire, Lake Hallie, and Altoona. Folks can also call in to Northern Tap House to place a take-out order from Roble’s menu, which includes favorites such as the wet burrito, enchiladas, and queso cheese dip with house-fried tortilla chips.

After a brief trial period to make sure that staff could manage the additional menu smoothly, Roble announced the development and began taking orders from the general public. “We want to make sure we are doing things right and doing things right for our community,” Hunt said. Unfortunately, Roble’s old namesake – tequila – is not available via delivery.
