Anyone who loves to geek out about their favorite things will have a home at this year’s UWEC GEEKcon, a celebration of people’s passion for hobbies, games, art, and more. The event takes place Saturday, Nov. 3 from 10am-5pm on the third floor of the UW-Eau Claire Davies Center. Students may enter for free, while community members may purchase tickets for $5 or in exchange for a donation of two non-perishable items.
Last year, more than 600 people attended the event, which features illustrators, storytellers, henna, game designers, sculptors, painters, and so much more. Vendors will sell their work and offer interactive exhibits for attendees to enjoy. GEEKcon, now in its third year, is sponsored by UWEC TV-10, Learning and Technology Services, and the Communication and Journalism Department.
This year's vendors include Andrew Walde, a UW-Eau Claire graduate and graphic novelist, colorist, and video game creator; Manali and Anjali Olesky, professional henna artists; and Craig Sieracki, social worker and designer of CHOMP! And CULT! tabletop games; among others. For more information about GEEKcon, visit their event page on Facebook here.
Saturday, Nov. 23, third floor in UW-Eau Claire Davies Center 77 Roosevelt Avenue, Eau Claire. Free with valid student ID, $5 general public.
