Setting a Spooky Mood
ParaNomiCon celebrates all things otherworldly
Most often, “haunted” is the first word that comes to mind when The Mabel Tainter is mentioned, and the theater not only lends itself well to the rumor but also leans into its history of paranormal activity. With neutral stone exterior, lavish Victorian design reminiscent of a squat castle, and an ornate interior, the theater seems to have been built to invoke a haunting presence.
Incredible detail and storied history was poured into the design of 19th-century theater, and the organizers of the first ParaNomiCon would like to celebrate this with a series of local and national speakers and two paranormal investigations of the theater beginning Friday, Sept. 27. From nationally recognized paranormal investigators including the headliner and producer of Ghost Hunters, Grant Wilson, to prolific cryptozoologist Loren Coleman, attendees are certain to learn about the mysteries of the paranormal and the ways in which these professionals have honed their skills investigating the unknown.
Those interested in a more intimate discussion of the paranormal are invited to attend the pre-event dinner and subsequent paranormal investigation on Thursday, Sept. 26, with tickets available for all three days at mabeltainter.org. Attendees of the Friday and Saturday events will also be able to enjoy more than 50 paranormal-related vendors, certain to spark the curiosity in all with services, artwork, and other wares related to the unknown and spooky.
