“The reason I create art is to tell a story through visual images. It may be a complete story with a beginning, middle, and end – or simply an image that conveys a certain mood and hints at a story that could possibly exist under its surface. The focus of my art is on mood and emotion, storytelling, and visual aesthetic. The subject matter that appears most often in my work is human characters and figures. End of Summer depicts a girl stopping on a country trail to watch a flock of geese flying south. The scene takes place in the Northern Midwest, a region which I have come to associate with short, sweet summers and a feeling of melancholy at their ends.” – The Artist

Volume One finds its cover art in a number of ways, from local art shows to random emails to knowing someone who knows someone who knows a great artist. The art always originates from a current or former Chippewa Valley resident. If you'd like to submit cover art, send us a message.
