Creating a bonsai tree will be demonstrated in one of six gardens featured in the 18th annual Stepping Stones Garden Tour in Menomonie on Saturday, June 29, during which hosts will be on hand to answer questions. Ten silent auction items – including artwork, jewelry, garden items, gift baskets, and more – will be available for bid at each gorgeous garden site. In addition, a Garden Market featuring plants and treasures for sale will be held at Stepping Stones, 1602 Stout Road, from 10am-4pm on Thursday, June 27, and Friday, June 28, as well as 9am-2pm on the day of the tour. Tour tickets cost $15 in advance, $17 the day of, and those younger than16 may enter for free. Proceeds benefit Stepping Stones’ food pantry, shelters, and community connections programs. Jane Redig, a gardener and former Stepping Stones board member, staffer, and volunteer, has been involved with the fundraiser since its start in 2002. What keeps her returning every year is Stepping Stones’ mission: Established in 1986, the nonprofit focuses on food, shelter, and support for the homeless and low-income people facing unexpected crises. Stepping Stones’ food pantry is open six days a week, two shelters are available for overnight guests, and staff members link those in need with specific resources.
