“Poppy Heart” by Kim Vaughter
ink and digital color, 16 x 20, 2018

Kim Vaughter "lives in a world of mud puddles and pixels."

Kim Vaughter is a graphic designer and painter living in Rochester, Minnesota. She enjoys colorful things, pinball machines, and red lipstick. She graduated from UW-Eau Claire with a BFA in painting in 2011 and continued her education at Western Technical College, receiving a second degree in graphic design. When not creating art in her studio, Kim can be seen drawing with chalk on the sidewalks of the world, collaging photos of David Bowie, and looking at pictures of hippos on the Internet. To see this piece and others by her, visit the Pump House Art Gallery in La Crosse by April 13 as the Kader Gallery will be featuring her work.

Volume One finds its cover art in a number of ways, from local art shows to random emails to knowing someone who knows someone who knows a great artist. The art always originates from a current or former Chippewa Valley resident. If you'd like to submit cover art, send us a message.
