The holiday season invites all sorts of memories into our minds: the good, the bad, and the awkward. Local storytellers and improv performers will poke fun at this tumultuous yet festive time of year on Thursday, Nov. 29, at The Venue, the back room of The Plus, 208 S. Barstow St.. Head downtown a week after Thanksgiving for “Eat This! An Improv and Storytelling Show” at 8:30pm. Admission is only $10 and includes a free soft drink, rail drink, or domestic tap beer! The last collaborative show like this sold out, so purchasing tickets beforehand is highly encouraged. The first show was in July and focused on bad roommates; storytellers shared their own experiences and the improv performers responded with their own scenes. This event will have the same format and may include a way to share your own holiday stories. The acts will likely involve the audience and are collaborative on many levels. Join the Eau Claire Improv Company, Glassworks Improv, and Kyle Robl performing improvised musical numbers based on stories, along with storytellers and stand-up comedians. This event allows you to step away from the difficult parts of the holiday and laugh at it with others. The event’s fun comes from how it pulls everyone in for a one-of-a-kind performance, said Amber Dernbach from the Eau Claire Improv Company. “Anytime you get to witness something for the first time, you feel included,” she said.
