Pablo Will Host Big Book Festival Events

Tom Giffey |

The new Pablo Center at the Confluence will host theatrical and musical events, of course, but it also will provide new opportunities for the region’s literary scene. This part of the Pablo Center’s mission will begin next month with three Chippewa Valley Book Festival events. David Treuer, a novelist and author of the nonfiction “Rez Life: An Indian’s Journey Through Reservation Life,” will speak about “Native Americans and the Imagination” at 7pm Monday, Oct. 15, in the Jamf Theatre. The following evening at 7pm a release party and reading will be held at the Pablo Center for the second issue of Barstow & Grand, a local literary journal. Both events are free, but tickets are required and can be obtained via pablocenter.org. In addition, Caroline Fraser, author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Prairie Fires: The American Dreams of Laura Ingalls Wilder, will speak about the true stories behind the beloved “Little House” books at 7pm Tuesday, Oct. 23, in the RCU Theatre. Tickets are $10, and they can be purchased at pablocenter.org or at the Pablo Center box office after Sept. 22. To learn more about these and all the other book festival events, visit cvbookfest.org
