Take a spin on the Wheel of Rock!

Channel your inner rock star, get your rock star garb on, and head down to the library – YES, you heard it right: the library – for its first-ever, end-of-the-summer-reading program celebration. The Readers’ Rock-Out Party will be 6-8:30pm Thursday, Aug. 16, on the lower level of the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library in Eau Claire.

It’s open to the public – readers, non-readers, and rock music lovers of all ages – it’s family friendly, and it’s FREE. No need to have participated in the summer reading program to attend. The Eau Claire Room will be transformed into an MTV sound stage and dance lounge. A DJ will roll and scratch the turntable with music from the ’80s, such as Guns and Roses, Mötley Crüe, Prince, Madonna, and more. Music videos from the era will be shown silently behind the stage. Participants can spin on the dance floor, sing karaoke, or groove and jam to the sounds at tables and chairs. Eighties-style (non-alcoholic) beverages and snacks will be available.

Check out “Rock Music Bingo” in the Chippewa Room with groovy prizes for winners. The Red Cedar Room will be turned into a miniature pop-up sale, featuring ’80s-themed books and CDs, benefiting the Friends of the Library. There’s still time to participate in the Reading Rock Stars program for Summer 2018 and win great prizes. The deadline to register is Aug. 15. Click here for more information.
