Ground has been broken, and soon drinks will be served. 44 North, a new “gastro pub” coming to the heart of River Prairie in Altoona, will open its doors to the public this fall. The multi-level building will have an industrial feeling with a variety of touches to make the vibe unique to the Chippewa Valley. The first floor will have a sports and game theme, while the second level will showcase a rustic feel with an outdoor bar. In addition to the dining space, 44 North will feature a meeting room with capacity for as many as 100 people. The plan for food and drinks is to feature a variety of new takes on classic dishes designed to complement beer and cocktails. “We will feature tastes from all across the country.” said Paul Wilkes, regional manager of Kingpin Management. Wilkes added that the establishment also will feature 24 different tap beers, highlighted by a special 44 North specific brew. With 44 North, there is a lot to be excited for in an area that continues to live up to the hype.
