Micon Downtown Cinema is screening 50 “fantastic, frightening, offbeat, and just plain weird” films March 9-11 for the second MidWest WeirdFest film festival. Festival director Dean Bertram describes the event as “A broad, if shadow-filled, tent, for all cinematic creations weird and wonderful.” The selected works include documentaries, short and feature films, animated pieces, and more. Tickets are on sale now. A full festival pass is $55. Friday’s pass is $15,  Saturday and Sunday passes cost $25 each, or you can view individual films for $6-$8. Following the final film screening, audience members are invited to join the festival producers and visiting filmmakers for drinks at The Fire House.  “Bringing together filmmakers and their audience is one of the most important functions of a film festival,” Bertram said. “That audience members get to interact with the films’ creators, not just during Q&As, but in the cinema lobby and at after parties, is a rewarding experience for both filmmakers and audiences alike.” Learn more at midwestweirdfest.com
