Dance (And Sing) With Dragons

Game of Thrones parody will have fantasy lovers laughing

James Johonnott |

Send a raven! On March 1 the State Theatre will be dark and full of laughs. Winter is coming, and you can get a front-row seat to all of the fantasy action. Fans of HBO’s Emmy Award-winning Game of Thrones can get their fix of betrayal, magic, dragons, and debauchery on stage with a “Musical Thrones: A Parody of Ice & Fire” comedy musical romp through all seven seasons of the modern fantasy classic. This musical send-up is composed by Jon and Al Kaplan, the madcap masterminds behind the hilarious and skin-crawling Silence!: The Musical, a comedy musical interpretation of Silence of the Lambs. A Parody of Ice and Fire brings your most beloved and be-hated characters to life. Sing and dance along with Daenerys and her dragons, Tyrion, Jaime, and all the jolly members of the Lannister and Stark families in this love letter to fans. The cast of five plays all of the characters, some doing upwards of 40 on-stage costume changes to capture all of the backstabbing, sarcasm, duels, and romance. They’ll transport you to the magical locations of Westeros where bloodthirsty musical theater comics leave no joke unturned in serving up Thrones’ notorious violence, power struggles, manipulation and sex – plus, worse yet, a ballad or two. This touring show is battling its way across North America so check your Valyrian steel at the door of the State Theatre and laugh along with this tribute to our favorite hour of fantasy.
