A chance conversation about comedian Louis C.K.’s sexual misconduct allegations inspired Jodie Arnold to write a 10-minute, one-act play. The Volume One Gallery will host this play as part of “#MeToo: A Live Literary Event,” scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 16, from 7-9 pm. The collaborative performance art event coordinated by Arnold – playwright, writer/editor, comic strip illustrator, “Tell Me Something Weird” podcast host, and UW-Eau Claire English grad student – includes music, visual art, poetry, plays, stories, and essays, among other genres. “I made the event two hours long so as many voices could be represented as possible!” The current line-up includes Sarah Ferraro and her thought-provoking collages; Martha Gingras, on-air personality from Durand’s reel-country WRDN 1430-AM; Charlotte Kupsh, prose editor from the literary journal Barstow and Grand; and special musical guest Jerrika Mighelle. In addition to the performance of “Perspectives,” the short 10-minute play written by Arnold, the special #MeToo edition of the local Eau Claire-zine “Fanboy Comics and Stories” will be released at the event.
