Arts Board Hosts Eau Claire Town Hall

Lauren Fisher |

The Wisconsin Arts Board is offering the Eau Claire arts community an opportunity to weigh in on issues facing Wisconsin artists at a town hall-style get-together. The event – which will be Monday, Dec. 11, in the Volume One Gallery, 205 N. Dewey St. – is one of a series of town halls being held across the state in order to inform the board’s next three years of service to the arts.

Executive Director George Tzougros and Karen Goeschko, assistant director for programs and services, who are hosting the forums, will share information about opportunities for funding, collaboration, and more. Then they will turn the floor over to attendees to discuss what’s on the minds of Eau Claire artists. The morning of the town hall, Helen Klebesadel, a professional visual artist and educator from Madison, will host a workshop for aspiring professional artists called “Artrepreneur – Planning for Artists.”

This workshop will discuss striking a balance between creating meaningful art and promoting and marketing work. The board has subsidized this class, allowing participants to enroll for $30. The usual cost of this workshop is $90 per person.

The workshop runs 10:30am-3:30pm Dec. 11, and will also be held in the Volume One Gallery. The $30 fee includes snacks and beverages, but participants are encouraged to bring their own lunch. Registration is required, and can be done via the Wisconsin Arts Board website (http://bit.ly/2iD8tsY). The free town hall is scheduled for 6-8pm the same day.
