Fleet Farm Has Plans to Build Big Eau Claire Store
V1 Staff |
Mills Fleet Farm plans to build a huge retail store and lumberyard on Eau Claire’s south side, just off the interchange of Interstate 94 and Highway 93. Brainerd, Minn.-based Mills Fleet Farm – which offers farm and auto supplies, hunting and fishing gear, and more – has filed plans with the city for a 218,000-square-foot retail store with a lumberyard wrapped around the side, a decorative silo, and a gas station and car wash, the Leader-Telegram reported. There is also room for other, smaller businesses on the 42-acre property. On July 17, the city Plan Commission approved the site plan and recommended that the City Council rezone the property, a step that likely will occur at the council’s July 25 meeting. Mills Fleet Farm (not to be confused with another chain, Blaine’s Farm & Fleet), has 37 stores in the Upper Midwest, including one in Menomonie. The company is also in the process of building a 1.1 million-square-foot distribution center in Chippewa Falls.
