SAD SONGS TO HEAL. Bo Weber wrote a heartbreaking self-produced album for his late mother who died after a battle with ovarian cancer. Weber says: “The way my mother lived her life was beautiful beyond comparison.”

This Mother’s Day, Minneapolis musician Bo Weber will skip out on the flowers and chocolate to give his mom something a little more personal – a self-produced album written in her memory. Titled after his late mother, Wendy will debut as a collection of songs woven out of Weber’s internal experiences of heartache, nostalgia, and unconditional love.

Weber’s mother passed away in 2013 at 50 years old to ovarian cancer. Known to be a “silent killer,” the artist hopes his release will bring awareness to the signs and severity of the deadly disease.

“1 in 75 women will develop ovarian cancer in their lifetime,” Weber said. “So it is extremely important that I express urgency in taking preventative measures.”

In order to advance his cause, the singer plans to donate 100-percent of the physical album proceeds to women who are currently fighting the disease.

“I want to help take the worry from those who are currently in the difficult financial situation my mom found herself in,” Weber explained. “That way, they can put all their focus on simply getting well rather than distracting their energy on money.”

From Weber’s trials through guilt and heartache, to his trying emergence to a state of peace, the tracks contained on the album take listeners along a raw and emot ional exploration through Weber’s darkest sufferings and the motivation discovered in composing music.

“Emotions are meant to pass through us rather than stick with us,” Weber said. “I’m fortunate enough that I found an outlet that allowed me to express my feelings and also do what I love. My songs are simply diary entries paired with instruments.”

Along with the release of Wendy, Weber plans to premiere the music video “Right Here” – a song that emerged out of remorse, repentance, and the regret of actions made a little too late.

“‘Right Here’ is a raw confessional of the distance I set between myself and my mother during her battle with cancer,” Weber said. “I sing of the struggles I faced after her passing as I attempted to free myself from a self-destructive downward spiral of substance abuse.”

Wendy will also include voicemail recordings from Weber’s mother and other personal audio clips as bonus material.

“I want to be a voice for the voiceless,” Weber said. “To give others words and music they can relate to and guide them through their darkest moments. Often times, music is the only remedy that can soothe what cannot be fixed. When you lose a loved one, you officially belong to a club nobody wants to be in. I figure while I’m in this club, I may as well do some good.”
