If the simple mention of Fournier’s Ballroom gets you wanting to dig out your dancing shoes, the Chippewa Valley Museum is giving you a great reason to do so. Long-time Chippewa Valley residents probably remember the dance hall era bolstered by Fournier’s popular dance floor, but never fear – Valley newbies and pros alike can experience the magic again Saturday, April 1 during “A Dance Hall Revival” at the Florian Gardens in Eau Claire. The event is part of the museum’s 7th annual Heritage in the Valley Celebration & Fundraiser. It features music from the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s by The Thundermen, a dinner buffet, silent auction, and raffles. It may not be Fournier’s Ballroom, The London Inn, or The Barr, but folks will be dancing their feet off from 5:30-11pm. Reserved dinner and dance tickets are $40 per person or $20 for dance only tickets, and those must be purchased by March 27. The dinner buffet runs from 6:15-7:15pm with a menu of grilled hamburgers, grilled chicken breast, assorted buns, calico beans, Jo-Jo’s or steak fries, fresh veggies and dip, and The Thundermen take over at 7:30pm. Whether you need an excuse to use those dancing shoes or want to relive some memories of the good ol’ days, this is definitely an event worth showing up for.
