Can you remember a time
when you didn’t exist
and even when you did,
nothing made sense?
not the rub of her bare arm
after undressing her
how you held all her secrets
in your hands
not the funny way she tilted her head,
lips down, eyes looking up
the way she touched your face
for the last time.
