Valley Youth Chorus Is Seeking Your Voice

Barbara Arnold |

Calling all fourth, fifth, and sixth graders who want to sing or love to sing: The newly formed Chippewa Valley Youth Chorus wants your voice – no audition required! Members in this mixed-voice ensemble will sing a wide variety of songs as a group, learn how to read music and how to care for their voices, and most of all, have fun singing and making music!  Rehearsals have already begun, but it’s not too late to join the chorus. Rehearsals are 6:30-7:45pm Mondays through Nov. 14 at the Eau Claire Music School, 1620 Ohm Ave. The fall season will conclude with a public concert on Thursday, Nov. 17. Tuition for the fall 2016 semester will be $175, payable upfront.  The choir will continue to meet January through May 2017 with a spring concert date to be determined, and tuition will be similar. Cathy Reitz, a retired choral teacher in the Eau Claire school district – most recently at DeLong Middle School – is directing the chorus. She has years of experience directing choirs, including the Chippewa Valley Community Chorus, Stand in the Light Choir, and the former Bel Canto Youth Choir. Dr. Nick Poss, the choir’s manager, has extensive experience as a singer and accompanist in the local choral community including the Eau Claire Boy Choir, Valley Gospel Choir, Eau Claire Male Chorus, and UW-Eau Claire’s Singing Statesmen.
