For the second year, UW-Eau Claire’s College of Business is setting aside a week to celebrate and educate entrepreneurs in the Chippewa Valley and beyond. Entrepreneur Week runs Monday, Oct. 10, through Sunday, Oct. 16, and will feature panel discussions with entrepreneurs as well as business plan competitions. “Our ongoing goal is to continue building the culture of entrepreneurship here in Eau Claire,” says Ann Rupnow, coordinator of UWEC’s Entrepreneur Program. Activities will have an international flair: Faculty and students will be visiting from the Shri Ram College of Commerce at the University of Delhi, India. The week begins Oct. 10 with a 5:30pm panel at UWEC’s Davies Center titled “Starting a Business Here and Abroad.” On Oct. 11, a 7:30pm discussion at the State Theatre, “Redesigning Eau Claire,” will feature Zach Halmstad of JAMF Software, Ben Richgruber of the Eau Claire Regional Arts Center, Volume One’s own Nick Meyer, among others. At 5:30pm on Oct. 12, Blugold alum Gary Berg will speak at Davies Center about how he started a successful entertainment business, and at 5:30pm Oct. 13, finalists from UWEC and Shri Ram College will compete in Swim with the Sharks, a business pitch competition. Finally, Startup 48 – a weekend-long business incubation exercise – will cap off the week on Oct. 14-16.
