Step One: Register. Step Two: Vote.

On the unbelievably slim chance that you missed all the commotion, there’s an election coming up. And not just any election: On Tuesday, Nov. 8, Wisconsin voters will be selecting a new president, as well as a U.S. senator and members of Congress and state Legislature. So how do you get to be one of these democracy-driving voters? If you’re at least 18, a U.S. citizen, and a Wisconsin resident, it could be as easy as dropping by one of the voter registration sessions sponsored by Register and Vote Eau Claire (RAVE), a nonpartisan group focused on boosting voter registration in Eau Claire County. Over the next few weeks, RAVE will be holding numerous registration sessions across the county. In particular, they’ve trying to register new voters, people who’ve moved since they last voted, or those who haven’t voted in four years and whose names have been taken off the voter rolls. (Curious about your registration status? You can double-check it at myvote.wi.gov.) To register, you must provide proof of residency, such as a state-issued ID, a property tax bill, a utility bill, a bank statement, or a residential lease. (For a complete list of acceptable documents, visit gab.wi.gov/voters/resources.) Here’s a rundown of the scheduled registration sessions:
