“She Grows Within Me” by Susie Santee
Mixed Media, 11” x 14”Susie Santee is an artist based in Eau Claire. Her work is inspired by the world around her and life in the northern Midwest region of the United States.
Susie’s work documents her interpretation of the world around her, sharing the experience of living in the northern Midwest. She experiences a true sense of discovery in the creative process and is always interested in exploring new things, places, processes and images. Ultimately, her work is a visual record of her perspective during the intuitive and personal moments of the creative process – an unplanned dialogue between herself, the subject, and the paper. This piece stems from one of her 50 Faces Project pieces in which she drew 50 faces from imagination, forcing herself to accept the woman who appeared on the page as she was – without judgment. It was a cathartic experience of self-acceptance via the creative process.
