How Grape Is This?

wine, art, and fun mix at Arc of Dunn County fundraiser

Wine. Art. A worthy cause. These three will be present at the second annual Corks & Canvas fundraiser for The Arc of Dunn County – but will you be? Last year’s event surpassed organizers’ expectations with 250 people attending and raising $5,000. Due to increased demand, sponsors would love to double that at this year’s event, which will be Thursday, Sept. 1, at the Cottage Winery & Vineyard in Menomonie. Your participation benefits the Arc’s five community programs for dozens of individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities: Art at the Arc, Arc Action, Arc Adventures (a recent adventure took participants to the Minneapolis Institute of Art), Arc Awareness, and SibShop (which enables siblings of those with developmental disabilities to connect with each other). The Arc’s reach also now extends beyond Dunn County to seven other counties: Ashland, Barron, Buffalo, Chippewa, Eau Claire, Pepin and St. Croix. Live music will be performed by the Two Frets Up with the talented duo John Utphall on fiddle and keyboard and Larry Radle with vocals and guitar. A live auction will be at 6:30pm with featured artists Carla Brown, Clay & Fire Pottery, Amanda Duffey, Eye Spy Personal Creations, Robert Giede, Chaia Kochendorfer, Anne Legeros, The Beloved Sisters, Vintage Sign Shop, Aaron Wolf, and more. For only $10 (with an online ticket) or $12 (at the door) – plus additional charges to take part in wine tasting, the wine pull, or the wine toss – you too can partake in this fun event.
