Thinking differently in the workplace means more than just putting up a few motivational posters. It involves developing creative, flexible strategies to solve the problems of an increasingly complex world. An upcoming five-part workshop conducted by UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education has been designed to help participants do just that by becoming more innovative. “Enhancing Your Creative Problem Solving and Innovating Thinking ” is described as a series of “high-energy, hands-on experiential workshops” for “individuals who wish to rethink and challenge common problem solving techniques.” The series begins with an introductory half-day workshop on June 28, followed by four two-hour sessions on July 20, Aug. 24, Sept. 21, and Oct. 26. Workshops include “Adding Value to Your Organization with an Entrepreneurial Mindset,” by Ann Rupnow, UWEC’s entrepreneurship and economic development coordinator; “Creativity: Finding the Balance between Originality and Value,” by Jessica Carter, founder of Greater Than Creative; “What Parachute? Jump! Improve Communication and Strategic Risk Taking,” by Ben Richgruber, executive director of the Eau Claire Regional Arts Center; “Fostering a Culture of Creativity and Innovation in the Workplace,” by Scott Jameson, vice president of sales and marketing at Realityworks; and “Collaboration: A Key to Success in Businesses and Other Organizations,” by Michael Hoadley, director of community investment at United Way of the Greater Chippewa Valley. The $300 fee for the program includes 11 hours of instruction, course materials, and refreshments.
