If you’re an early bird who loves a good breakfast, then you’re in luck! The Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the 20th annual Breakfast in the Valley on Friday, June 19, at the Eau Claire County Expo Center. You can pile your plate with scrambled eggs with cheese, ham, mushrooms, and onions as well as fruit, muffins, and (because this is Wisconsin) cheese curds. Volunteers will be cooking the eggs on two four-foot skillets which can accommodate 500 eggs each and were designed and built by Chippewa Valley Technical College students. Breakfast is served from 5-10am, and the first 2,700 people will get to take home a commemorative coffee mug. Besides food and door prizes, you can also check out farm animals and antique tractors, catch the hilarity of a milk-drinking contest featuring local celebs, watch the bestowing of the Friend of Agriculture and Conservation Farmer awards, meet the recently crowned Alice in Dairyland and Fairest of the Fair, and much more. Finally, don’t forget about the traditional dessert: Culver’s frozen custard topped with cornflakes and strawberries. That’s what we call Dairy Month heaven.
