Back in 2008 – before anyone dreamed up something called the Confluence Project – the Eau Claire Regional Arts Center created the Confluence of Art Biennial, a juried show meant to bring together the best art in the Upper Midwest and beyond. (The word “confluence,” after all, isn’t just about rivers.) Now in its fifth incarnation, the biennial show will be juried by Denny Vance of Independence, Iowa, who is described as “an award-winning, multi-genre artist” who has worked as a theatrical actor, director, and designer; served as a docent at the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art; and runs a wood sculpture studio, Art In Fact. Entry forms – which can be found online at eauclairearts.com or obtained by visiting ECRAC’s Janet Carson Gallery during business hours – must be postmarked by June 13, and the exhibit itself will run Aug. 12 through Sept. 23. Artists must be 18 years of age or older and may enter as many as three pieces of recent, original artwork. For details, visit the website or contact Rose Dolan-Neill, director of visual arts, at (715) 832-2787 or rose@eauclairearts.com.
