Interested in checking out some good tunes for a good cause? Join local musicians Sundae + Mr. Goessl, Billy Krause, Evan Middlesworth, Jim Pullman, Greg Gilbertson, and Dan Rouse for a night of music and the release of The Bischoff Sessions CD at Revival Records on Friday, May 20th at 7:30pm. All proceeds from the album, merchandise, and the event will be used to help cover the cost of drug and alcohol counseling for those in need. To make this project happen, several downtown businesses in Eau Claire joined with Life Songs Counseling and local musical groups to create an album entitled The Gibson Sessions, which came out in 2015 with the goal of raising awareness for people struggling with drug or alcohol addiction. This most recent album, the second one in the project series, features a guitar made by local luthier Gordy Bischoff in 1977. (He’s been in the guitar-making business since 1975.) The people involved in this production hope to make drug and alcohol treatment more affordable, lessen the stigma behind addiction counseling, and make the entire process of getting help easier and less intimidating. They also want to promote understanding for those struggling with substance abuse. You can purchase tickets in advance at Pedals Music or Revival Records for $10, otherwise tickets will be $12 at the door. If you can’t make it to the show, but still want to help out, you can donate to The Bischoff Sessions and their cause via their page on generosity.com.
