is a rag full of snot,
a concealed weapon
you have no permit for,
a mobile device.

A key to a door you
never lock or even use,
loose change to spend
in the ears of strangers.

A list you need to remember.
A note you’ve already forgot.
A nest of spent tissue.
A well too deep for wishes.

It’s a pocket full of pockets
each with its own hole in it.
It lives on lint and ink.
It’s not afraid of the dark.
