Galloping Away With Honors

Eau Claire painter wins Best in Show in Arizona

Tom Giffey |

Eau Claire artist Terry Meyer is back from a trip to Arizona with some big accolades – as well as a great big blue ribbon. Meyer, who specializes in large-format oil and watercolor paintings of horses, won Best of Show earlier this month at the 57th Annual Tubac Festival of the Arts near Tucson, Ariz. In addition to that honor, Meyer was one of the festival’s featured artists, and a reproduction of one of his paintings illustrated the event’s official poster. The Tubac Festival of the Arts is a juried festival featuring 175 artists from around the country who gather each winter in a southern Arizona community known for its artists’ colony. This was the second year that Meyer has shown his work at the Tubac Festival, and he frequently takes part in art shows across the Upper Midwest and beyond.
