An experienced library manager from southern Wisconsin is the new director of the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library. Pamela Westby, currently director of the Middleton Public Library and 2016 chairwoman of the Wisconsin Library Association Board, has been appointed to the post. “I’m very pleased with the results of our recruitment process. Pamela is a competent and dedicated professional, and she will serve the community very well as library director,” said library board president Robert Hauser. Westby will replace John Stoneberg, who retired Jan. 1 after 38 years at the library. Westby has been director of the Middleton Public Library for eight years, and previously oversaw public libraries in Sparta and Pelican Rapids, Minn. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Mary and a master’s degree in Library and Information Science from the University of North Texas. Westby and her husband, Mike, have four adult children. Her first day on the job will be March 28.
