It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's a Comic Art Exhibit!

From blockbuster movies to Netflix, comics are ever more fully entrenching themselves in our current culture, but what about where it all began? What about those painstakingly drawn still frames and those all-caps exclamations that you swear you can hear? UW-Eau Claire invites you to take a behind-the-scenes peek at the process of comic creation from conception through production. Through Feb. 18 come down to the Foster Gallery in the Haas Fine Arts Center, 121 Water St., to see Framed: Inside the World of Comics. The exhibit features works by the following local artists: Bill Hauser of St. Paul; Barb Schultz of Minneapolis; Tim Bruckner of Amery; and Steve Kurth, Rob Mattison, Andrew Ritchie, and Chris Gierke of Eau Claire. Gallery hours are 10am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday, 6-8pm Thursdays, and 1-4:30pm Saturday and Sunday. Even if you’re not sure comics should be called art, come down and see if our local talent can’t change your mind. And for all other comics and art lovers, up, up, and away with you!
