If you’re a Chippewa Valley snowmobiler, you’ve got a chance to get yourself into the Guinness Book of World Records this winter. The second annual Northwest Wisconsin Winter Fest and Games, which will be Jan. 29-31 on the frozen surface of Lake Wissota, will feature an attempt to set a world record for the largest snowmobile parade. According to fest organizers, the Guinness Book folks list the current record at 847 snowmobiles, meaning if 848 sleds show up, history will be made and Lake Wissota will be famous for something other than being name-checked in the movie Titanic. The snowmobile parade is just one part of the fest, which made its debut last winter on Lake Altoona. There will also be ice racing, hot air balloons, a run/walk, fireworks, music, and ice fishing, ice biking, and plenty of other things with “ice” in their name. Proceeds from the festival will go to United Cererbral Palsy of West Central Wisconsin and other charitable groups. Learn more at winterfestandgames.com.
