Chamber Orchestra Begins Season with Beethoven

Barbara Arnold |

“‘Just’ Beethoven” will kick off the 18th season of the Eau Claire Chamber Orchestra with Music Director and Conductor Ivar Lunde Jr. on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 7:30pm at Grace Lutheran Church, 202 W. Grand Ave. Gary Schwartzhoff will conduct The Master Singers on the Fantasy for Piano, Choir and Orchestra Op. 80 with UW-Eau Claire’s Lori Cruciani soloing on the piano. Lunde will conduct the Coriolan Overture and Symphony No. 2. Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy was the brilliant finale of a benefit concert held in Vienna on Dec. 22, 1808, and the Minnesota Orchestra performed this piece on its recent goodwill trip to Cuba. All ECCO concerts include a display by a local visual artist and a pre-concert talk that begins at 6:45pm. Season tickets are available at a discounted price of $65. Single concert tickets are $23 for adults, $20 for seniors, and $8 for students, and are available at Neff’s Piano Shop, Festival Foods, and Mega! Co-op East and West.
