"Classy Junk"

annual foundry sale fills industrial building with eclectic goodies

If you’re the kind of person who believes the term “classy junk” isn’t a contradiction in terms, then the annual Foundry Sale is for made for you. Held inside an actual old foundry in downtown Eau Claire, this sale is organized by Mary Freeberg, who a few years ago decided to sell some of the collectibles she had amassed over the years inside the former industrial building. The sale brings together more than a dozen vendors once a year to showcase their classic wares, from furniture to industrial antiques, from “shabby chic” décor to upcycled salvage, plus collectibles and art of all kinds. Imagine the finest treasures from Grandma’s attic combined with those from Grandpa’s back shed and you’ll have some idea of what the Foundry Sale is all about. This year’s sale is Sept. 25-27 at 1239 Bellevue Ave. – just above Banbury Place. A large portion of the proceeds will benefit Feed My People Food Bank, so your hunt for a good deal will also help a good cause.
