Everyone loves cookies baked with love, and that’s exactly what the Red Cedar Cookie Company is bringing to your door – delivering fresh, delicious cookies with cold milk. With nine different flavors of cookies, from classics like chocolate chip to creative flavors such as birthday cake and salted caramel oatmeal, Red Cedar has a treat for anyone and everyone.

Red Cedar Cookie Company is primarily a delivery business, but also has products available at multiple storefronts. Individually wrapped cookies can be found at the Local Store, and ice cream cookie sandwiches will be available this summer at multiple locations including the Fairfax and Chippewa Falls pools, Ted’s Pizza, and Carson Park concessions.

Owner Lisa Buhr says that “the mission of the company is to help people appreciate and enjoy each other with a cookie break,” because it gives people a reason to set technology aside and socialize over delicious warm cookies.

Buhr was inspired by baking with her mother; she’s been doing it since she was 10. For Buhr, baking is a loving family experience and she wants to share that love with other people.

Buhr’s company is based in Menomonie and has been running for two years. Originally, it started under another business in the Twin Cities and recently broke off on its own. Buhr said it’s been fun molding the company into what she wants it to be. She’s enjoyed working with in the kitchen and sharing her success with her mother, who gave Buhr her start as a baker.

As for the future of Red Cedar Cookie Company, you can look forward for some new and interesting flavors. Besides some special holiday cookies, Buhr has been toying with the idea of local flavors, such as a beer cookie (perhaps Leinenkugels?) or something with butterscotch chips (a personal favorite of mine). You can bet that they’re going to be scrumptious. I’ve tried the chocolate chip and the double chocolate cookies, and both were perfectly sweet and absolutely delicious.

So instead of buying those flowers and chocolate or sending that card, why not order some cookies for a change? Nothing says thank you like a lovely warm cookie.
