Eau Claire-based PESI Inc. is known nationwide as a provider of continuing education – seminars, conferences, and the like – in the health care and behavioral health fields. But the nonprofit organization has a publishing arm as well, and back in April PESI Publishing and Media won three awards (two gold, one silver) for editorial and design excellence at the Benjamin Franklin Awards, which were given out by the Independent Book Publishers Association in Austin, Texas. Basically, these are the Oscars for indy publishers. The Mindfulness Toolbox: 50 Practical Tips, Tools & Handouts for Anxiety, Depression, Stress & Pain by Donald Altman, who gold awards in the Psychology and Body, Mind, and Spirit categories. Meanwhile, Self-Regulation Interventions and Strategies: Keeping the Body, Mind and Emotions on Task in Children with Autism, ADHD or Sensory Disorders by Teresa Garland won a silver in the Psychology division. More than 1,400 entries in 55 categories were judged in the contest.
