Chalkfest's new home.
Chalkfest's new home.

This summer will see an entirely new approach (plus a new date and new location) for Chalkfest, Volume One’s classic chalk art event in downtown Eau Claire which thousands of people have been attending since 2008. To take the event to the next level and build its strength into the future, Volume One will now partner with UW-Eau Claire to bring an expanded and improved Chalkfest to the beautiful new campus mall on Saturday, Aug. 15. The event will always focus on the 100(+) artists from throughout the region creating sidewalk art masterpieces each year, but will now add a variety of fun elements for fest-goers – things that simply were not possible at the previous Wilson Park location. With the additional space and amenities of UW-Eau Claire, Chalkfest can now offer more chalking area and more artists, live music in the streamside amphitheater, an expanded kids chalk space, art vendors, more food vendors, an interactive science component, plenty of parking, better accessibility, real bathrooms, and more.  Organizers are still working out details on registration for artists and vendors, so watch VolumeOne.org/chalkfest for more information.
