“Dew” by Harlie Wensel
acrylic on canvas, 24” x 24”

Harlie Wensel is a student at UW-Eau Claire majoring in marketing and minoring in art. Harlie grew up in Colfax on a bison farm. She was also a Community Supported Artist through the Eau Claire Regional Arts Center in 2014.

“Harlie Wensel grew up on a bison farm outside of Eau Claire. It was odd growing up and figuring out that not many people lived on farms, let alone bison farms. During the first days of school, being on a bison farm and her name often were how people remembered her. What she learned by growing up where she did was what hard work and finishing what you started really meant. Not only that, but she learned to never give up on what you’re passionate about. Though she is only 20 years old, she have been painting for at least 10 years. For hobbies she enjoys painting, ice cream (that’s a hobby right?), and being with family.”

Volume One finds its cover art in a number of ways, from local art shows to random emails to knowing someone who knows someone who knows a great artist. The art always originates from a current or former Chippewa Valley resident. If you'd like to submit cover art, send us a letter.
