Eau Claire Bands Bound for Rock County Folk Symposium

Eric Christenson |

Starting in 2010, the Rock County Folk Symposium used to be sort of a private thing. The Janesville arts and music festival  used to cater to friends and such pretty exclusively. But this year, the organizers pushed to sell around 250 tickets, effectively doubling the amount of potential festival-goers. Three Eau Claire acts – Softly, Dear, Adelyn Rose and Sayth + Wealthy Relative  – are making the drive to perform at the one-day, one-night fest at Camp Rotamer just northeast of Janesville. But that’s not where the local connections end. One of the Symposium organizers is former local dude, Spencer Wells (and Sayth’s older brother) and one of the festival’s headliners is Death Blues, a project by Volcano Choir drummer Jon Mueller. Other headliners include All Tiny Creatures, Double Ewes, Bedtimes and Dietrich Gosser. Apart from music, the RCFS features interactive art installations, food from Madison’s Underground Food Collective, drinks from Furthermore beer, camping and “creative displays of Wisconsin love and heritage.” So do with that what you will. Tickets are currently on sale at rockcountyfolksymposium.com.
